Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday demanded immediate release of Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar on humanitarian grounds so that he could attend his ailing wife who is suffering from a life threatening disease.
In a statement issued here, senior PDP leader and party’sstate secretary Noor Mohammad Sheikh has said that Akbar’s wife is battlingserious ailment and needs her husband by her side at present. He added that the entire family of Ayaz Akbaris reeling under trying circumstances and has already appealed the governor torelease the incarcerated separatist.
He said the government should release Akbar on humanitariangrounds at an earliest so that his family which is in absolute perturbation atpresent could heave a sigh of relief.
Sheikh said that there is enough space available in law ofthe land to take a holistic view of the issue and address it on humanitariangrounds.
According to Sheikh, releasing Akbar from prison will send apositive signal across and contribute in creating a conducive atmosphere formaking peace permeant in the otherwise strife torn state.
