I-Day celebrations held across Kashmir

The 74th I-Day 2020 celebrations were also held across Kashmir valley.

Various functions were held at all district and tehsil headquarters where dignitaries unfurled the tricolor and addressed the participants.

   

Anantnag

In Anantnag, main function was held at Government Degree College (GDC) Boys Khannabal, where District Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, KK Sidha unfurled the tricolor and addressed the participants.

The contingents of CRPF, Executive Police, IRP, District Ladies Police, Home guards and District Police Band participated but no parade was held in view of the COVID – 19 situations.

In his speech, the DC Anantnag praised the role of the frontline workers in creating mass awareness regarding COVID – 19 and combating it.

The frontline workers were awarded with certificates and cash award.

Similar functions were also held at sub divisional and tehsil levels, where the concerned SDMS and tehsildars unfurled the tricolor.

Baramulla

In Baramulla, main function for I-day was held in District Police Lines, where the DC Dr G N Itoo unfurled the tricolor and inspected the parade and took salute on the occasion.

The parade was presented by the contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, BSF, Home Guards, Fire and Emergency Services among other bands.

The DC extended his applause to all such officers, officials who worked tirelessly during COVID-19 pandemic and termed them the real COVID-19.

Later, a prize distribution ceremony was organized during which functionaries viz Covid-19 warriors, officers, officials were felicitated.

Similar functions were also organized at sub-division and tehsil levels where the respective BDC chairpersons unfurled the tri-color.

Kupwara

In Kupwara, DC Kupwara,  Anshul Garg unfurled the tricolor on I-day at the District Police Lines and also took salute at the march past presented by contingents of  JKP, IRP, CRPF, FPP, JK Home Guards and police commandos.

On the occasion, the DC felicitated 300 Covid-19 warriors.

SSP, Kupwara, Shriram Ambarker; ADDC, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat; ADC, Nazir Ahmad Lone; Senior Civil, Police and Army Officers were present on the occasion, besides Chairman Municipal Council Kupwara, BDC Chairpersons, PRIs and government employees.

I-day was also celebrated at sub-division Handwara, where   Additional Deputy Commissioner Nazir Ahmad Mir hoisted the tricolor at DPL Handwara and took salute on the parade.

Similar function was held at border sub-division Karnah where, BDC Chairman Tangdar, Reyaz Ahmad unfurled the tricolour and took salute on parade.

Budgam

In Budgam, DC Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza unfurled the tricolor and took salute from the contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Auxiliary police and Home Guards at Sports Stadium Budgam.

In his address, the DC highlighted the development scenario of the district especially projects completed by various departments during the last year and other projects that are at the verge of completion besides, targets achieved under various governmental schemes.

The DC also spoke about the launching of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan in district Budgam from today.

The I-day celebrations were also held at all tehsil headquarters, besides BDCs also unfurled the tricolor and celebrated the day in their respective jurisdictions.

Pulwama

In Pulwama, DC Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer unfurled the tricolor and took salute at parade comprising contingents from Police, CRPF, JKAP, Fire and Emergency and Home Guard at DPL Pulwama.

In his address, the DC congratulated the people on the day and hailed the rich heritage of the district.

DC said that Pulwama has become synonymous with industrial growth, excellence in education, entrepreneurship and tourism.

ADC Altaf Ahmad Khan, ADC Tral S.A Raina, Assistant Commissioner Development, ASP Pulwama, all District Civil, Police officers, BDC Chairmen, PRI members and a large no of people were present on the occasion.

Later, DC visited District Jail (correctional Home) and District Hospital where he distributed sweets among jail intimates patients and attendants.

Similar functions were held at Awantipora and Tral where concerned Additional Deputy Commissioners unfurled the tricolor, inspected the parade and took salute at the march past.

Kulgam

In Kulgam, main function was held at District Police Lines where DC, Showkat Ajaz Bhat hoisted the tricolor and took salute at the march past.

In his address, the DC highlighted the efforts and measures put in place by the administration to contain Covid-19 and complimented all the departments besides PRIs, NGOs and volunteers for their efforts and proactive role from day one to contain the corona infection.

MP Rajya Sabha, Nazir Ahmad Laway, SSP Kulgam, Gurinder Pal Singh, ADDC, Riyaz Ahamd Sofi, Commandant CRPF 18th Bn Mayank , and other  senior officers and employees  from Civil and police administration were present on the occasion.

I-day celebrations were also held at Sub-Division DH Pora. Similar functions were organized at all tehsil and block headquarters of the district.

Later “Nasha Mukt Bharat” campaign was launched and a vehicle was flagged off to generate awareness among masses to eliminate drug menace from district.

Shopian

In Shopian, main function was held at District Police Lines Shopian where DC, Chaudhary Mohammad Yasin hoisted the tricolor, took salute and inspected the parade.

On the occasion, DC highlighted the achievements and developmental activities undertaken by various executing agencies.

Later, the DC also released a coffee-table book “Shaan-E-Shopian “.

Among others SSP, ADC, ACR, Civil and Police officers besides a large gathering of people were present on the occasion.

Bandipora

In Bandipora, main function related to I-day was held at SK Stadium Bandipora where Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad unfurled the tricolor flag and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of JK Police, JKAP, IRP 21 battalion , JK Home Guards, JKP Mahila Police, JKSPOs, JKP Band and CRPF 3rd Battalion .

In his address, the DC paid rich tributes to the COVID warriors who worked tirelessly to fight the pandemic.

On the occasion, DC also launched “Nasha Mukth Bharat” campaign in the district to fight the drug menace in the district.

Similar functions were also held at sub-district level at Sumbal and Gurez besides at Municipal Council and Committee offices and tehsil headquarters.

Ganderbal

In Ganderbal, DC Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal unfurled the tricolor and took the salute during the I-day function celebrated at Gadoora Stadium, Ganderbal here.

Speaking on the occasion, DC said that three more Government Women colleges are coming up in the district at Ganderbal, Gund and Wakura for which land is already identified. Besides, Government Architecture College at Safapora is also approved which will be constructed at 100 kanals of land, he added.

The event was witnessed by District and Sessions Judge, Mohammad YousufWani, SSP Ganderbal, President Municipal Council Ganderbal, ADC, Farooq Ahmad Baba, BDC Chairpersons,  Sarpanchs, Panchs besides various other officers and officials from Police and District Administration.
