ICDS supervisors without salary for months, appeal LG to intervene

The supervisors working under the Social Welfare Department of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) Thursday expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to release their salaries on a regular basis and appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene.

JKICDS Supervisors Union President Abida War along with the District Union Body told media persons in Handwara about the anguish the supervisors had due to the routine delay of salaries for the past two years.

“Despite being regular employees of the department, our salaries are released only ahead of the festivals or in March,” she said.

Abida said that the supervisors working 24X7 even in pandemic for all programmes run under ICDS like Poshan Abhiyan, PMMVY and Beti Bachavo Beti Padavo and Ladli Beti were being discriminated.

The other supervisors who were accompanying Abida said that they were not being promoted despite rendering years of service to the department.

They appealed authorities to provide pension benefits to those supervisors who had rendered maximum service as AWWs.

They also appealed Lt Governor Sinha and the concerned authorities to look into the matter and release the pending salary of the supervisors at an earliest so that they would not need to hit the streets or strike work.
