IM calls for shutdown today

Itehadul Muslimeen has called for a complete shutdown across Kashmir on Monday  against the heinous rape of 3-year  old girl at Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

In a statement here, Itehadul Muslimeen president Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari termed the rape of three-year-old girl as a blot on the face of humanity. “The presence of people with such ill intentions are proving a rot for the society known for upholding its moral values for centuries. There is a dire need for evolving a joint strategy to deal with these elements,” he said.

Moulana Ansari  said, “the incident is not a shocker for just one particular sect or a community but entire humanity and the people of Kashmir collectively feel deeply hurt and pained,” he said.

“We demand a stern punishment to the culprit behind the act. There should be no leniency adopted while dealing with the person involved in this act,” he said, adding that one hand victim is battling for her life and on the other hand, efforts are being made to save the culprit which is a serious concern.

Moulana Ansari urged people of Kashmir to forge unity on all fronts and not to get swayed away through rumours being spread by vested interests working to trigger sectarian frenzy in Kashmir. “Some agencies are working hard to fuel the sectarian frenzy and it’s high time for people of all sects to remain united and seek an exemplary punishment to the culprit,” he said. Meanwhile, a delegation led by Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari visited Sumbal and met the family members of the three-year-old victim. The delegation expressed sympathy and solidarity with the family members of victim.
