Incessant rains trigger landslides in Kangan

The incessant rains from last evening triggered landslides at two places in Kangan, causing damage to a building at Kijpora and hampering traffic movement on Kangan-Babanagri road  on Thursday.

Officials said that an under-construction building was partially damaged at Kijpora Kangan. The building is owned by Abdul Majid Mir and Fayaz Ahmad Mir. A minor landslide and fall of trees hit the traffic movement on Kangan-Babanagri-Wangat road for hours this noon.

   

A senior engineer of PMGSY, the care-taking agency of the road, told Greater Kashmir that the incident took place at km-8 of the road and the stretch was cleared after the incident. Masarat Hashim, SDM Kangan, told Greater Kashmir that the traffic has been restored on the road.
