Amid coronavirus scare, authorities on Wednesday sealed an industrial for allegedly manufacturing hand sanitiser in violation of the laws.
An official said a team of officials from Drugs Departmentsealed the unit “U Safe Zone” in industrial estate Sopore on Tuesday evening,for allegedly manufacturing hand sanitiser without holding a license.
The official said on the direction of Deputy Drug ControllerKashmir, Irfana Ahmad, the Assistant Drug Controller, Baramulla, MuhammadBashir constituted a team of officers who raided the place and found the unitmanufacturing hand sanitisers, ‘ActivaSaffy’.
The official said the unit was manufacturing several otherproducts since years but has no valid license to manufacture the sanitizer.
Bashir said the owner of unit has priced the sanitiser threetimes more compared to the rates set under Essential Commodities Act
“We are on a look out for the stock already supplied tothe market,” said the Assistant Drug Controller.
