Injured PDP activist succumbs

A People’s Democratic Party worker, who was shot at and injured by unidentified gun men at a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district little over a week ago, died of his injuries on Wednesday night at SKIMS, Soura.

A police official said that Irfan Ahmad, a resident ofZainapora died after battling for life for eight days.

   

Irfan along with another party worker Muzafar Ahmad wereabducted by unknown gunmen from Zainapora village on May 8.

They were taken to a nearby Reban village where the gun menopened fire on them.

Both Irafan and Muzaffar suffered injuries in their legs andwere rushed to district hospital Anantnag from where doctors sent Irfan toSKIMS, Soura in view of grave nature of his injuries.

Confirming the death of Irfan, a former PDP law maker toldGreater Kashmir that he (Irfan) was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard onThursday at around 9 am.

Irfan used to run a pharmacy at his native village, a localsaid.
