Naseemabad, B K Pora residents seek Div Com’s intervention

We would like to request your good self that in the month ofOctober, 2017, we had represented to former Minister of Roads & WorksDeptt. for construction of a cement concrete drain in our locality. In absenceof the drain the people especially children, women and senior citizens have toface severe problems during the rainy days. The Minister was kind enough torecommend our case to concerned department. After survey of the area anestimate to the tune of Rs 5.80 lakhs was framed for the financial year 2018-19and Executive Engineer, R&B Division Chadoora was advised by the higherauthorities (Chief Engineer/ Superintending Engineer, PWD) to reflect the workin current year’s works programme but the Xen in reply, requested the SE toincorporate the work at your (his) level vide Xen. No. EE/R&B/CHD/2765-66dated 25-06-2018. In this context the SE had asked the XEN to discuss thematter with him (SE).  We inquired fromthe office of the XEN Chadoora about the decisions the officers have taken inour case but nothing has been known by us. It has been learnt that nodiscussion has taken place till this date.

We were expecting that the SE might have given the ordersfor the said work but to our dismay, nothing has been heard or done as a resultwe are facing tremendous hardships in absence of the drain.  Our kachha roads, lanes and by-lanes alwaysremain inundated.

We appeal to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir tointervene and direct the concerned authorities to take up the work in handduring the current financial year 2019-20.

10-yrs on, Eidgah colony awaits drain

We the residents of Majeedbagh Colony,Ganderpora Eidgah wantto bring it into the notice of the concerned authorities that we are facingimmense problems due to lack of drainage facility in our area.

Slight rainfall leads to our entire area getting inundated. We have been running from pillar to the post for the past ten years to get ourgrievances redressed.

We have completed  allthe required documentations. We even managed to get an approval from ExecutiveEngineer and Superintendent Engineer drainage and the file has been forwardedto Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation  two months ago.

The SMC Commissioner was directed to release the funds buttill date the SMC has not released a single penny. This is sheer injustice.

We request the higher ups to look into the matter and getthe funds released at the earliest so that we can heave a sigh of relief.

Ram Bagh Extn colony residents face hardships

We the residents of Ram Bagh Extension housing colony arefacing immense hardships. The government recently sanctioned an undergroundsewerage project for the colony and the work was started in the month ofFebruary. It was completed after digging of the entire road network.  The most unfortunate is that the executingagency has destroyed the entire surface drainage  network comprising of u-shaped and v-shapeddrains by filling the same with excavated earth from sewerline thereby causingloss of millions to the state exchequer. It is the surface drains which formthe backbone of the drainage system and are meant for the disposal of rain andmelting snow water thereby ensuring the longlife of blacktopped roads.

The authorities are requested to kindly look into the matterand get the system restored at the earliest before the reconstruction of roadnetwork is taken up.This will save us from a perpetual agony and the a veryhuge loss to the state exchequer.

S M Hussain , Retired Chief Engineer
