IUST develops 'isolation chamber'

Amid COVID19 pandemic, a fully functional Class-N Negative Pressure Chamber (NPC) named AirVac 400 was completely developed at Design Innovation Centre (DIC), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), a statement said on Tuesday.

It said a negative pressure chamber, also known as an isolation chamber, is a type of hospital chamber that keep patients with infectious diseases away from other patients and healthcare workers (HCW).

It said the NPC developed by the DIC-IUST has features like negative pressure monitoring, air changes per hour (ACH) monitoring, modular and light weight design, low cost design, inbuilt low ACH alarm and inbuilt low negative pressure alarm systems.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor IUST, Prof Mushtaq A Siddiqi has congratulated the entire team for the achievement. “I am thrilled because our team members have achieved it in a very short span of time,” he said.
