IUST signs MoU with the University of Islamic Denomination Iran

The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Islamic Denomination Tehran and Iran.

The initiative has been taken to have academic and researchcollaborations between the two universities.

   

In this regard a function was organised at the IUST whichwas attended by the representatives of Iran and Tehran. As per the hand outissued here, the event started  with alecture on Quranic Hermeneutics delivered by rector of University of IslamicDenomination, Iran, Prof Mohammad Hossein Mokhtari.

The lecture was organized by the International Centre forSpiritual Studies (ICSS) of IUST.

Prof Mokhtari in his address explained FriedrichSchleiermacher’s theory of Hermeneutics and deliberated on the three modes ofHermeneutics: Classic, Romantic and Philosophical.

“Most of the thinkers are in agreement with the factthat the ‘text is ambiguous’ and thereby emphasise on tracing the intentions ofthe author to arrive at a final message of the text,” he said.

The lecture was followed by signing a MoU between Universityof Islamic Denominations  and IUST whichwas signed by  Vice Chancellor, IUST  Prof. Mushtaq A. Siddiqi and Prof Mokhtari.

Prof Mokhtari was accompanied by a galaxy of scholars fromIran which included Dr. Yahya Jahangiri, Vice Rector, UoID, Professor GholamReza Raeisian, the Dean of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies ofFerdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran and Dr. Zahrani, Former Deputy ofEducation Minister of Iran.

In his address to the gathering, VC IUST said the MoU willbe a remarkable step towards further expansion, fostering internationalalliance and outreach for the university.

“It will facilitate student and faculty exchange programmes,collaborative research and development of various joint projects,” he said.

Dean Academic Affairs, IUST Prof. A. M. Shah in his addressemphasized the need to create worldwide chain of connections between differentuniversities for an enriching academic environment and bright future.

The event was attended by the Syed Reyaz Rufai RegistrarIUST, Deans, HoDs, faculty members and students from various departments.
