Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir today strongly denounced the killing of a student Gowhar Ahmad Rather of Kangan, Ganderbal, by the police.
The Jama’at spokesman, in a statement today, demanded an exemplary punishment to the cop involved in the act of killing.
“As per the statements of some eye-witnesses, Gowhar when pleading with a police party to release his brother was chased by the criminal cop who had descended from a police vehicle and fired upon his head with his pistol from a point blank range. After being hit by the bullet, Gowhar fell down in a pool of blood,” the Jama’at spokesman said.
“A delegation of Jama’at leaders expressed total solidarity with the bereaved family and paid rich tributes to the martyr besides demanding a stringent punishment to the criminal cop,” he added.
