J&K needs private professional colleges: Er Rasheed

AIP president Er Rasheed on Monday urged regional political parties to include in their manifesto that they would ensure opening of new professional and technical colleges in the state.

In a statement issued Er Rasheed said that “ongoing assault and harassment against Kashmiri students in other states should serve as an eye opener for us. Establishing professional and technical institutions in public and private sector is the need of the hour.  Many local investors have been trying hard to get permission from the competent authority to establish various much needed colleges in Kashmir but unfortunately bureaucracy has been creating barriers and is not allowing education sector to flourish beyond a certain point.”

He said that “it is high time for all the regional political parties that are in the race to win the forthcoming elections to take a note of the recent happenings and include setting of educational institutions in their manifestos.”

He also welcomed the statement of actor turned politician Kamal Hassan  that New Delhi should revisit its policies and resolve Kashmir dispute by holding plebiscite, so that peace returns in the entire sub-continent.
