For the first time, Jammu and Kashmir Police celebrated the 20th anniversary of “Kargil Vijay Diwas” on Friday.
To mark the day, several impressive functions and paradeswere held at District Police Lines across the state, in which district Police,J&K Armed Police, Indian Reserve Police, CRPF and ITBP contingentsparticipated, a police handout said.
Giving details, the statement said, at DPL Srinagar, DrHaseeb Mughal, SSP, took the salute at the parade. The school children and alljurisdictional police officers attended the function.
Dr Mughul highlighted the sacrifices of forces who foughtthe Kargil War 1999.
GANDERBAL
In Ganderbal, SSP Khalil Ahmad Poswal took the salute of theparade in which contingents of District Police, CRPF and SDRF participated. Onthis occasion, he said the aim of the celebrations is to remember thesacrifices of Indian Army during Kargil War and make people, especially thestudents, aware about the gallant acts of the forces.
BARAMULLA
Baramulla Police celebrated the day at DPL where M. SuliamanChoudhary, DIG NKR took the salute.
Present on the occasion was also Abdul Qayoom, JKPS SSP Baramullaand other officers of District Police.
BANDIPORA
In Bandipora, the day was celebrated at DPL where SSPBandipora Rahul Malik along with senior officers paid floral tributes and tooksalute at the parade.
SOPORE
At Sopore, the a function was held at DPL during which SSPSopore Javaid Iqbal took the salute at the march past by contingents of Policeand CRPF.
BUDGAM
In DPL Budgam, an impressive march past was presented by thecontingents of Police and Paramilitary forces. SSP Budgam Chandan Kholi unfurledthe national flag and inspected the parade.
HANDWARA
The Divas was also celebrated at DPL Handwara where SPAshish Mishra took salute at the parade. District Police along with schoolchildren participated in the parade.
SHOPIAN
At Shopian, the Divas was held at DPL. On the occasion, SSPShopian Sandeep Chaudhary took the salute from the contingents of theimpressive parade.
AWANTIPORA
At Awantipora contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, ITBP, andschool children participated in the Parade.
SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem along with the officers of theArmy, CRPF, ITBP and Civil administration paid tributes to the soldiers whowere killed in Kargil war. Civilians besides school children witnessed theparade.
ANANTNAG
In Anantnag, a function was held at DPL where SSP AltafAhmad Khan took salute from the parade comprising contingents ofPolice/(JKP/JKAP) and students of different schools.
KULGAM
In DPL Kulgam, an impressive parade was presented by thecontingents of SSB and J&K Police.
SSP Kulgam Gurinderpal Singh unfurled the national flag andinspected the parade.
KUPWARA
Police celebrated the Diwas at DPL Kupwara. SSP KupwaraShriram Ambarkar took salute from the parade.
On this occasion senior officers of Police, Army and CAPFwere present.
LADAKH REGION
The day was also celebrated in Ladakh region. A function washeld at DPL Leh which was participated by 5 contingents of District Police Lehand IRP 25th Battalion.
SSP Leh Sargun Shukla took the salute. A symposium on thetopic “Recognition of courage and valour in India” was also organisedafter the parade.
JAMMU DIVISION
The day was also celebrated in district Jammu and a victoryparade was organized in DPL this morning.
DIG JKS Range Vivek Gupta took the salute of the paradewhich was performed by contingents of Police, Paramilitary Forces besidesstudents of different schools.
District Police Samba also celebrated the the Diwas withgreat fervour and patriotism at DPL.
In Kathua, J&K Police paid rich tributes to the soldierskilled in the Kargil war.
The commemorative functions were also held at DPLs Udhampur,Reasi, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch, the statement said.
