J&K police constable returns bag with 9,000

A J&K police constable on Saturday found a bag containing Rs 9,000 at Baltal base camp of Amarnath yatra in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The constable, Muzaffar Ahmad with belt no. 1271, informed the in-charge police post Baltal that he had found the bag with cash.

   

Immediately, the police announced this on the public address system and a widow lady identified as Meera Gupta of Madhya Pradesh came forward and claimed the money.

Manzoor Ahmed, SHO Baltal said after proper verification the amount and the bag were handed over to the lady. “The lady expressed gratitude to the police for this honest act,” he said. 

The devotees on the occasion applauded the police action and praised the honesty of the policeman, a statement here said.
