J&K Police enhance special welfare relief to Rs 20 lakh for families of slain policemen

Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Thursday chaired a meeting of Central Police Welfare Committee (CPWC) here.

According to a police spokesperson the meeting was attendedby ADGs B Srinivas, AK Choudhary, AG Mir, Munir Ahmad Khan , IGs SD Singh,Danesh Rana, JP Singh, Vijay Kumar, Alok Kumar, Surinder Gupta and  S Ahfadul Mujtaba. Besides senior officers ofthe department, representatives from all units and districts of the departmentparticipated in the meeting and put their views and suggestions for theintroduction and strengthening of different welfare measure.

   

According the spokesperson, various decisions were taken inthe meeting after threadbare discussions.

Enhancement in special welfare relief from Rs15 lakhs to Rs20 lakhs (inclusive of immediate relief of Rs.1 lakh) payable to NOK ofsubscriber in the event of his death while in service. Enhancement inretirement gift from existing scale of Rs 60,000 to Rs 75,000. Meritoriousscholarship for wards of GOs revived with immediate effect. The powers forsanctioning of welfare loan to various welfare Committees enhanced.

 Provision of reliefto SPOs seriously injured during law and order duties enhanced from Rs 1 lakhupto  Rs 1.50 lakh. Provision of suitablefinancial assistance up to Rs 50,000 for the treatment of SPOs and theirdependents suffering from life terminal ailments. Enhancement in financial aidfor marriage of daughter of Martyred Police Personnel/ SPOs from Rs 25000 to Rs50000. Scholarships schemes introduced for the wards of Martyred SPOs on thescales as applicable to wards of Police Martyrs. Special relief payable to NoKsof SPO in the event of his death while in service enhanced from Rs 2.5 lakh toRs 5 lakh (inclusive of immediate relief of Rs 5000o).

Speaking on this occasion the DGP Dilbag Singh said that thedecisions taken today in the open house by the representatives of the welfarecommittees of different units across the different wings will go a long way inproviding more help and assistance to the police personnel in the time of need.He said that police department is thankful to the state and central governmentsfor enhancement of ex-gratia relief in favour of police personnel/SPOs,increase in hardship allowance and remuneration of SPOs. He said that theJ&K Police is praised at highest levels because of its work and thanked therepresentatives for healthy participation and discussion.
