JKAP appeals govt to treat PRCs as domicile certificates

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP), senior leader Manjit Singh Tuesday appealed to the government to treat Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) as domicile certificates.

“The people in general and in rural areas particularly are facing problems because of formalities to file an application to get a domicile certificate whether online or offline,” said Singh.

He said poor people were suffering because the process of making domiciles has become a source of “minting money” for some agents especially when some officials were not approachable to people of rural areas.

“To ease out the process, the government should accept PRCs as domiciles and without formalities they should be issued domiciles because the PRC holders are facing harassment even as they have verified certificates,” said Singh.
