JKLF campaigns for poll boycott in Khan Sahib

Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 10: Continuing their election boycott campaign, the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders and activists Monday visited various areas in Khan Sahib constituency of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
“The Front leaders and activists visited Sheikhpora, Chek Marg, Doompora, Nagbal and Rathhain localities, apprising people about the negative and deleterious impact of elections on Kashmir cause,” a spokesman of the Front said in a statement today, adding, “Leaders visited door to door and met people, distributing written message of incarcerated JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik.
Talking to people, the JKLF leaders asked them to stay away from upcoming assembly elections as, according to them, these elections are detrimental to Kashmir cause and negate sacrifices of martyrs.
“After the announcement of these elections, the police and forces have started an oppressive campaign against political resistance leaders and activists especially JKLF whose chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested and is currently lodged in District Jail Islamabad (Anantnag). Several other leaders and activists have also been detained in different jails. Police raids still continue on the residences of Front leaders and activists,” the spokesman said. “If the government of India and its Kashmiri stooges believe in something like democracy they should have some courage to fight JKLF and other resistance camp on political turf. Let them release our leaders and activists and let them stop police oppression and crackdown, all will know who enjoys people’s support,” the JKLF spokesman said.
