Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) today condemned the continued incarceration of its chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and other leaders and activists.
“Muhammad Yasin Malik who was taken in custody on October 2, along with zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal is still languishing at Kothibagh police station while as JKLF leaders Siarj Ud din Mir, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Abdul Rashid Magloo, Assadullah Shiekh and Ghulam Nabi Kashmiri are languishing in jails of Jammu under PSA and Shiekh Nazir ahmad is serving a life sentence at Kotbalwal jail Jammu,” a JKLF spokesman said in a statement.
He denounced alleged ‘police highhandedness’ against its member at Meraj-ud-Din Parray of Soitang, Lasjan, whose ‘scooter was confiscated from his shop’. “Policemen from Nowgam police station conduct frequent raids on Parray’s residence. They confiscated his scooter from his shop,” he said.
The spokesman said, “Ongoing spree of killings, arrests, slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on political activists and shifting them to outside jails and other oppressive measures are glaring example of Jammu Kashmir being run according to the whims and commands of security apparatus.”
The spokesman paid rich tributes to the youth who were killed at Fateh Kadal here on Wednesday. “These three youth Meraj ud din Bangroo, Fahad Mushtaq Waza and an unarmed civilian Raees Ahmad fell to the bullets of forces. This unending loss of loved ones is piercing the hearts and souls of Kashmiris and we all pray to Allah almighty to save the younger generation of Kashmiris from oppressors,” the spokesman said, adding that “Whole Kashmir shares the grief and sorrow of the bereaved families and stands in solidarity with them.”
“Front strongly condemns the police assault on the photo/ video journalists who were covering police action at Fateh Kadal,” the spokesman said.
