Jammu and Kashmir Socio Economic Coordination Committee (JKSECC), an amalgam of civil society formations and trade organizations, has expresses its dismay and anguish over the Chief of the Army Staff’s recent remarks regarding use of drones in Kashmir.
In a written statement, the JKSEC said, “The hints dropped by the Chief of the Army Staff expressing his desire to use drones in Kashmir in order to target the combatants are most deplorable.”
It said the JKSEC members strongly reacted to his statement and termed it the most “irresponsible having dangerous and disastrous ramifications on ground”.
“The world is keenly observing these activities against the hapless population of Kashmir and also the electronic media’s poisonous campaign which may not help them to create fallacies too long in using disproportionate force here,” read the statement.
While condemning the statement in strongest terms, JKSECC has cautioned the government against such “disastrous misadventures”.
The members, according the statement, also urged the governemnt to stop Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) straightaway to uphold the fundamental rights of the people which are hit in these operations.
