JRL calls Kashmir-wide shutdown tomorrow against civilian killings

Joint Resistance Leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Yasin Malik has called for shutdown in Kashmir on Monday (June 25) against continuous civilian killings in the valley.

A civilian was killed in forces’ action on protesters near the site of a gunfight in Kulgam today while a youth injured during clashes on Friday in Anantnag succumbed today at SKIMS Soura.

Earlier, the JRL had asked people to observe shutdown on Tuesday.

However, the leadership issued a statement, in which they asked people to observe shutdown tomorrow over the re-starting of “operation All-Out” and cordon-and-search-operations with full “vengeance” against the people of Kashmir, especially in south Kashmir, which has resulted in the killing of four innocent civilians in firing by “trigger-happy forces”.

“JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown against the planned genocide of Kashmiri youth by the Indian State on June 25 (Monday),” said the statement.

The leadership said that they can’t act as mute spectators over the “brutal killings of unarmed protesters as since Eid ul Fitr four innocent people including the father of two minor siblings were killed by the trigger-happy forces.”
