JRL calls shutdown in poll-bound areas of Kashmir on Saturday

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) – an amalgam of separatist outfits – has called for shutdown in areas going to polls in the fifth phase of Panchayat elections on Saturday.

In a statement, JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have asked people to observe a complete protest shutdown in Hyhama, Kupwara, Hajin, Nadihal, Narwah, Boniyar, Qamarwari, B.K.Pora, Narbal, Achgooze, Pampore, Imam Sahib and Qaimoh.

The polling for the 8th phase of panchayat elections will begin tomorrow morning.

JRL, in a statement, asked people to boycott “this futile exercise by staying away from polls”.
