Juvenile Board facilitates class 12 exam of 2 boys under detention

To save the careers of juveniles from getting ruined, Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) Kulgam has facilitated class 12 examination of two juveniles this month.

The juveniles, hailing fromKulgam district, had expressed their willingness to sit in board examinationand the Juvenile Justice Board wrote to Board of School Education authoritiesfor conducting their examination.

   

A letter written by JJB Kulgam to Joint Director J&KBOSE, reads, “It is submitted that a juvenile allegedly involved in a case,presently lodged in observation home Harwan Srinagar has submitted before theBoard that he has to appear in his 12th class examination which has beenscheduled to be held by your office from 13th of March 2019.”

The letter further reads, “After going through the record,the juvenile has to appear in 12 class examination under Roll No…. atGovernment Higher Secondary School Wanpora, Kulgam. Since the welfare and thecareer of the juvenile is the prime consideration under the J&K JuvenileJustice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2013, as such you are directedto conduct the examination of the juvenile under rules, as per schedule/ datesheet published by your office under intimation to this Board.”

A similar letter has been written by JJB Kulgam to BOSEauthorities for the other juvenile also.

The bi-annual examinations of 12th standard of both the boyshas been conducted in observation home, Harwan.

Earlier in December last year, the Juvenile Justice panelhad asked the Board of School Education to conduct the exam of a juvenile whomissed his class 12 test in October last year due to his detention by police.

On October 29 last year, the class 12th student from Shopianwas picked up by police station Imam Saheb allegedly in place of his brotherand was detained at police station for two days. Due to the illegal detention,the 18-year-old couldn’t sit in his examination.
