A 23-year old youth from Kangan area of Ganderbal with bullet injury in head is battling for life at SKIMS Soura here, doctors said. The youth identified as Gowhar Ahmad Rather was admitted in critical condition to hospital this evening. “He has firearm injury in head causing internal bleeding in brain. He is on ventilator and his condition is critical,” said medical superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan. “There is an exit and entry wound.” 

Unconfirmed reports said people had assembled in main ChowkKangan to protests killing of 4 civilian in Sunday’s encounters in South Kashmir. The police used force to disperse the protestors during which Rather suffered the injuries, reports said.

“His liver has got damaged. His condition continues to be critical,” said a doctor.    

District Magistrate  Ganderbal imposed Section 144 of CRPC in Tehsil Kangan as precautionary measure in order to avoid any law and order situation. Gathering of 5 or more than 5 persons have been  prohibited in public places.
