Kargil Vijay Diwas | Mega cultural evening organised at Leh

As part of Operation VIJAY celebrations, Fire and Fury Corps organsied a mega cultural evening at Leh on 23 July 2019.

The event was conducted at the Col Sonam Wangchok, MVCStadium, an Army handout here said.

   

Present on the occasion were Lieutenant General RanbirSingh, General Officer Commanding-in- Chief Northern Command, and Kalpana SinghDhatt, Regional President AWWA, besides Lieutenant General YK Joshi, GeneralOfficer Commanding Fire & Fury Corps.

The event was aimed to celebrate the epic victory of Army inOperation VIJAY in 1999. “It was also aimed to bring together various art formsof different genre, symbolising the rich and varied culture of India,” it said.

The talent shocased by different artists included speedpainting by Vilas Nayak, sand paintang by Nitesh, dance performances  by an award winning dance troupe from Mumbaiand Feel Crew.

Among other performances presented at the event were Sikhmartial arts & Ghatka by soldiers, a medley by Padamjeet Sherawat and amersmerising performance by the massed Army Pipe Bands.

The highlight of the evening was a performance by Grammyaward winner Ricky Kej, which electrified the crowd.

The cultural evening culminated with a felicitation of theartists by  Lieutenant General RanbirSingh,  General OfficerCommanding-in-Chief Northern Command, the statement said.

It may be mentioned that this year marks the 20th  anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas.
