The residents of Karnah on Tuesday here held protests over delay in construction of tunnel at Sadhna top. The protestors assembled at tehsil headquarters in Karnah and staged protest against authorities for delay in construction of the tunnel.
Reports said markets and educational institutes remained closed. “We were told by authorities that construction of the tunnel will start soon, but they have not even done paper work yet,” said a protester. Another protestor Zubair Ahmad said:
“It has started to snow at Sadhna top; we are not able to move towards district headquarters. If tunnel would have been constructed, we could have safely travelled to Kupwara in coming harsh winter months”.
Eleven persons were killed in an avalanche at Sadhna Top last year in January.
