KAS officers seek ‘action’ against Samoon

The KAS officers association on Wednesday demanded action against the principal secretary Higher Education Asgar Samoon for allegedly misbehaving with his subordinate.

A delegation of KAS officers led by their president Tasaduq Mir met chief secretary B B Vyas and registered their protest against the “unfortunate” incident of alleged misbehavior by Samoon with a senior KAS officer.

“The senior bureaucrat abusing his subordinate has de-motivated the officers. Such behavior is against the professional etiquettes,” the delegation complained to Vyas and demanded action against the bureaucrat.

The delegation demanded that directions should be issued to government officers to regulate their conduct and behavior in their professional lives, “keeping in view the provisions of civil service conduct rules.”

The chief secretary assured the delegation that the matter would be looked into.

Pertinently, on Tuesday, mission director Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) Muhammad Shafique Chak had registered a complaint against Samoon for using “abusive language” with him during a telephonic conversation.

Meanwhile, in a statement a spokesperson of KAS Officers’ Association said that the chief secretary described the incident as an “unfortunate one and assured the delegation that the matter will be seriously looked into.”

“In order to address the issue, the chief secretary assured the delegation that a specific advisory will be issued to the government officers for regulating their behaviour and conduct in the professional lives in keeping with the provisions of J&K Civil Service Conduct Rules,” the statement said.
