Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday said Kashmir is no one’s integral part and only belongs to its people.
Mirwaiz, before being detained by government forces, told reporters outside his Nigeen residence that Kashmir in its entirety belongs to its people and they have every right to decide their future.
“Let me tell them that Kashmir is no one’s integral part. It belongs to the people of Kashmir. It is our fundamental right to decide our future and destiny,” said Mirwaiz.
Saying that status quo maintained on Kashmir is pushing educated youth to pick up arms, Mirwaiz held New Delhi responsible for it.
He said no amount of force will break resolve of Kashmiri people to achieve their cause. “No amount of might will break our resolve. Nor will propaganda, lies and fake narratives. Kashmir was and is a dispute that has to be resolved through right to self determination.”
Mirwaiz also held pro India political parties responsible for the prevalent situation in Kashmir. “Their lust for power made them repeatedly compromise the interests of Kashmiris. Today we have come to a stage where our fourth generation from 1947 is paying the price of their lust with its blood.”
