Kashmir-bound passengers stranded at Delhi airport, blame carrier for ‘unnecessary delay’

Dozens of Kashmir-bound passengers stranded at Delhi airport from January 16 due to inclement weather on Friday blamed an airline of “unnecessary delay” in flying them home.

They said their flight was cancelled on January 16 due to inclement weather in Kashmir.

“We were scheduled to fly today at 2 pm but the airport staff after making excuses of bad weather left us stranded again. While they were busy in making excuses many flights took off and landed at Srinagar airport,” said Umar, a passenger.

The passengers said that there is heavy snow prediction for next four days and they don’t want to get “permanently” stuck at Delhi airport.

When contacted, Indigo assistant floor manager Omar Farooq told Greater Kashmir that they were facing issues due to continuous flight delays from 16 January owing to bad weather.

“We don’t have any forecast for tomorrow and we will adjust these passengers in tomorrow’s flight”, he said.
