Kashmiri interns in Delhi assaulted over Geelani's remark

These boys are pursuing their winter internships with different media and public relations (PR) organizations in these two months.

Reacting in rage against the recent controversial statement of Hurriyat (G) leader Syed Ali shah Geelani some unknown persons on early Saturday morning assaulted some Kashmiri youth in Delhi.

On 29th January, Geelani had termed militants who killed Col MN Rai in Tral encounter as ‘martyrs’ rousing a new controversy in Indian media.

“We were going towards our organizations when suddenly few youth appeared with their faces in covered clothes started beating us black and blue,” said Kashmiri media Interns. They wished not be names otherwise their families would get worried about them further and said that they would return within few days to valley.

This is not the first time that Kashmiri youth have been assaulted in Delhi but every time there is any political controversy, its brunt is borne by students staying there.

Meanwhile, after repeated attempts the contact with the Delhi Police commissioner was not established.
