Kashmiri ‘Kandurwan’ reaches Portugal

A film, ‘Kandurwan’ – the traditional Kashmiri bakery, has made it to Portugal with a young girl from Baramulla winning the best award on the subject.

‘Kandurwan-Baking History’, the film by budding filmmaker,Mehvish Altaf Rather from Baramulla has won the best ‘international documentaryshort film award’ at the recently concluded film festival at Portugal.

   

The film explains to the global audience the Kashmir’sculinary culture spread over a century and the society through Kandurwan, thetraditional Kashmiri bakery.

The event-Festival Pao de Portugal was held in Portugal fromMay 31 to June 2 and it had nominations and jury from all across the globe.

 “I am ecstatic aboutencapsulating a part of our culture, history and heritage on global level”,said the young film maker from Baramulla.
