Kashmiris will always uphold their tradition of ensuring safety to outsiders at all costs: Mirwaiz

Amid reports of mob attacks and harassment of Kashmiris in various parts of India, Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday said people of Kashmir will always uphold their tradition of ensuring safety to outsiders at all costs.

Taking to Twitter, Mirwaiz termed the attacks on Kashmiris in several parts of India as shameful.

   

While praying for the wellbeing of Kashmiris, Mirwaiz condemned the threats of boycott and expulsion of Kashmiri students. 

“The attacks on Kashmiri students &traders in parts of India is shameful. Open threats of boycott & expulsion of students is condemnable. My prayers for the safety and wellbeing of all.People of Kashmir will always uphold our tradition of ensuring safety of outsiders at all cost,” Mirwaiz tweeted. 

Several hoteliers of Agra city of Uttar Pradesh have put up notices asking Kashmiri tourists to remain away from their properties.

The hoteliers said that the local population of Kashmir is “supportive of militants despite our security men being killed.” 

Last night, a Kashmiri shawl trader from central Kashmir’s Budgam district was ruthlessly beaten by a mob.

A graphic video of the attack which was posted on social media showed blood oozing out from the nose of Javid Ahmad Khan (27) of Astanpora mohallah of Soibugh as the mob abused and forced him to shout ‘Vande Mataram’.
