Kathua rape-and-murder backlash: 50 students faint during clashes in Tral

At least fifty students of government degree college Tral fainted during clashes which erupted after protest against the horrific gangrape-and-murder of Kathua girl turned violent.

Reports said that the students staged a protest outside the college campus. However, forces deployed in the area used fired tear gas to break up the protest, triggering clashes.

   

Following the clashes, shopkeepers lowered their shutters and traffic disappeared from the roads.

Reports said that few students were injured during the clashes while three were detained by the police.

A health official at sub-district hospital Tral said that fifty students, mostly females, who had fainted were brought to the facility.
