KATHUA VERDICT|Judgment will instil a sense of security among women folk: NC women leaders

National Conference state secretary Sakina Itoo and party’s state women’s wing president Shamemma Firdous Tuesday welcomed the court verdict on Kathua rape and murder case, saying it will instil a sense of security among the women folk.

Sakina Itoo while expressing satisfaction over the hard workput in by the police department in unearthing the facts of the case, said, “Therole of the police is worth appreciation. The officers who unearthed the factsbehind the heinous crime notwithstanding threats and intimidation, have set anexample for other officers.”

   

Itoo congratulate the police officers and saluted thecourage of lawyers who helped the victim family get justice. “However Istrongly feel that the quantum of the punishment to the perpetrators of thecrime should have been more severe.”

“The convicts should be awarded with death sentence,” shesaid.

Shameema Firdous while welcoming the verdict said, “I feeldeeply for the courageous family. The verdict of the court underscores the triumphof truth over falsehood.”

“The judgment will go a long way in stopping such crimesfrom recurring. To lead a life of dignity, pride and respect is the right ofevery girl. We all have to make efforts in this direction,” she said.

Meanwhile party’s women leaders Satwant Kour, Er SabiyaQadri, Shahnaz Bashir, Sara Hayat Shah have also welcomed the court verdict.
