National Conference state secretary Sakina Itoo and party’s state women’s wing president Shamemma Firdous Tuesday welcomed the court verdict on Kathua rape and murder case, saying it will instil a sense of security among the women folk.
Sakina Itoo while expressing satisfaction over the hard work put in by the police department in unearthing the facts of the case, said, “The role of the police is worth appreciation. The officers who unearthed the facts behind the heinous crime notwithstanding threats and intimidation, have set an example for other officers.”
Itoo congratulate the police officers and saluted the courage of lawyers who helped the victim family get justice. “However I strongly feel that the quantum of the punishment to the perpetrators of the crime should have been more severe.”
“The convicts should be awarded with death sentence,” she said.
Shameema Firdous while welcoming the verdict said, “I feel deeply for the courageous family. The verdict of the court underscores the triumph of truth over falsehood.”
“The judgment will go a long way in stopping such crimes from recurring. To lead a life of dignity, pride and respect is the right of every girl. We all have to make efforts in this direction,” she said.
Meanwhile party’s women leaders Satwant Kour, Er Sabiya Qadri, Shahnaz Bashir, Sara Hayat Shah have also welcomed the court verdict.
