Kashmir Centre for Social and Developmental Studies (KCSDS) has paid rich tributes to AmbassadorYusuf Buch, who passed away last week in New York, USA.
In a statement here KCSDS said that the deceased was the “rising star of Kashmir when he was forcibly exiled to Pakistan in 1949 through a compulsory exchange of prisoners of war.”
“In Pakistan he rose to illustrious positions by dint of his sharp intellect and diligence. From Pakistan he suffered another exile when Bhutto was removed from power with whom he worked as minister of information. He came to US in 1953 as a winner of an essay contest but then never looked back. He worked in various capacities and finally ended up being the senior advisor to UN Secretary General for over 18 years. But his love for Kashmir and its suffering masses never dwindled. He remained committed to it till his last breath,” the statement said. The statement said that KCSDS members paid glowing tributes to the deceased and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
