Keran residents protest against NFSA

Meanwhile, independent legislator Er Rashid expressed his solidarity with the residents and addressed the protestors.

A day after Karnah residents tried marching towards Line of Control (LoC), the residents of Keran followed their footsteps on Sunday demanding revocation of National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Hundreds of people from different hamlets of Keran assembled at Keran market  and marched towards Kishanganga river (Neelam river) at  Line of Control to register their protest against the recently implemented NFSA and to attract the attention of people and media from other side of the divide.

Meanwhile, independent legislator Er Rashid expressed his solidarity with the residents and addressed the protestors.

“It is embarrassing that Kashmiris living on the other side of LOC are enjoying all the facilities and it is irony that residents of  Keran , Jumagund, Budnumbal, Kamkadi and Machil lack basic facilities.”

“Not only the main road from Milyal to Keran is in shambles, but there is not a single link road in the entire Keran valley. There is no electricity and just one PHC which has  no doctors. There can be nothing shameful than the fact that when people elsewhere are expecting 4G Network but poor inhabitants of Keran can’t even make a STD  call.” Rashid alleged.
