Keshwan Road Accident | JKYF distributes relief among victim families

J&K Yateem Foundation distributed about Rs 6 lakh among 43 families including six families from minority community at KagranaKeshwan in Kishtwar district of Jammu province. Kagrana village is located 25 kms from Kishtwar, a statement here said.

It may be recalled that 35 persons including 14 women, aninfant and 20 men, were killed in ahorrible road accident at Keshwan, Kishtwaron July 1.

   

JKYF team distributed cheques of Rs 10,000 each among 26victim families at Keshwan, Kistwar during its latest tour to the area, thestatement said.

The Foundation also decided to adopt three victim childrenwho lost their fathers in the accident. “These children would be formallyadmitted at BAITUL HILAL (Orphanage), HudriKishtwar, at the time of newadmissions this

November,” it said.

Under the directive of chairman JKYF, a central team fromSrinagar comprising senior volunteers Mohammad YaqoobReshi, Mohammad IqbalBeigh and Mohammad SadullahBhat, was deputed to Kishtwar for the purpose.

Earlier, the JKYF had released an interim relief of Rs 2.74lakh immediately after the accident had occurred. “The relief included rationkits, cash assistance, etc. In addition, supplementary amount of Rs 60,000 hasbeen released for all the injured persons in the accident,” it said. The amountdistributed was pooled by all the district units of JKYF from both Kashmir andJammu provinces.
