Khawaja Saifuddin Neelam passes away

As per family members, he was ill for the past few months and was shifted to New Delhi for treatment. Later, he was brought to Srinagar and admitted to SKIMS.

Kashmir’s prominent businessman Khawaja Saifuddin Guna, popularly known as Saifuddin Neelam, passed away on Sunday evening after prolonged illness.

Family sources said Khawaja breathed his last at SK Institute of Medical Sciences Soura at 6.10 pm. Khawaja Saif-ud-Din was the chairman-cum-managing director of SAIFCO group which owns hotel TajVivanta in Srinagar. 

As per family members, he was ill for the past few months and was shifted to New Delhi for treatment. Later, he was brought to Srinagar and admitted to SKIMS.

He is survived by two sons, Altaf Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmad, and a daughter. The Saifco group owns SAIFCO Cements, SAIFCO Flour Mill and SAIFCO Plaza.

National Conference Patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior party leader Sheikh Nazir condoled Khawaja’s demise. 

MLA Amirakadal Syed Altaf Bukhari condoled the demise of Khawaja Saifuddin and expressed his sympathies with the bereaved family.

Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.

President KCCI, Sheikh Ashiq said Khawaja was the one of the earliest members of the chamber who had worked hard for upliftment of business sector in the Valley.
