Killings won't stop people from joining BJP: Koul

J&K BJP’s General Secretary (Organization), Ashok Koul on Saturday condemned the killing of party Sarpanch, Sajad Ahmad Khanday of Qazigund in south Kashmir, saying such acts would not stop people from joining the party.

Koul was on 2-day tour to Kashmir during which he also visited slain Sarpanch’s family. He was accompanied by party’s Vice President Sofi Yousuf, media Incharge Manzoor Bhat and other senior party functionaries

While paying tributes to the Khanday who was killed by militants a few days ago, Koul said: “Killing innocent party workers won’t stop people to join the party. Such acts are barbaric and highly condemnable. These things would not be tolerated anymore.”

Koul termed the incident as unfortunate and offered condolences to the bereaved family. He said the killing has pained the party leadership. “If they kill one Khanday, dozens of Khanday’s are ready to sacrifice their lives for the nation,” Koul said. “We stand by his family at this difficult situation.”

Koul also visited the several place, where Panchas and Sarpanchs have been accommodated by the police and assured them every help. “People have shown full support and celebrated abrogation of Article 370 by hoisting tricolor at dozens of places in Kashmir. It was a clear message to those, who opposed the abrogation and were trying to disturb peace in the region,” he said. Yousuf said the cycle of violence has to end which will give people a sigh of relief.
