Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir, Prof Khurshid Andrabi today felicitated the officials of KU`s Proctorial wing, KUG Coy and watch and ward staff for their courage and services to the society during the September, 2014 deluge.
“Prof Andrabi appreciated the synergy and coordination exhibited by these agencies of KU in the relief camp organized at the varsity where the officials left their families behind and worked round the clock to provide food, accommodation and medical facilities to around 500 families, comprising 2500 people whose dwellings were devastated by the massive flood,” a KU spokesperson said.
“Besides, around 1500 students from NIT Srinagar and 200 students from CUK were also provided food and shelter during that period at KU,” he added.
While awarding the KU officials with mementos and certificates of commendation during a function organized by KU`s Proctorial Wing today, the VC said, “I deeply congratulate this valiant team of our officials who did a commendable job and exhibited remarkable qualities of team work, heroism, humanism and social service at the time of deluge.”
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof MA Wani; Registrar, Prof Z A Reishi; Chief Proctor, Dr Naseer Iqbal; Chief Security Officer KU, Nissar Ahmad Khan; Deputy Chief Proctor, Prof Aijaz Ahmad Wani; other proctors, officials from KUG Coy and watch and ward were also present on the occasion.
