KU hosts programs on sufis

Kashmir University on Saturday hosted two-day national seminar on “contribution of Sufis and Saints to Composite Culture of Kashmir.” 

The event is organised by Centre of Central Asian Studies(CCAS) Kashmir University in collaboration with Indian Council of PhilosophicalResearch, New Delhi and was held in  theconference hall of the centre.

   

Dean Academic Affairs Prof Musadiq Amin Sahaf presided overthe occasion while former Dean Academic Affairs Prof Muhammad Ashraf Wani wasthe guest of honour.

Registrar University of Kashmir Dr Nisar A. Mir was theguest of honour on the occasion. Director CCAS Prof G.N. Khaki formallywelcomed the guests.

Also an extension lecture on ‘Kalam-i-Shaikh : ZatukVukat’by Prof. Shafi Shouq was organised by Markaz-i- Noor, Centre forShaikh-ul-Alam Studies (CSAS).

Prof Shouq said, “The teachings of Shaikh-ul- Alam are ablessing for the whole Kashmiri society. He has touched almost every aspect ofhuman life in his writings. We find the original form of Kashmiri language inhis poetry”.

Those who spoke and were present include Prof MajroohRashid, head of the Department of Kashmiri, Prof Satyabhama Razadan, head ofthe Department of Sanskrit, chairperson of CSAS, Dr Mehfooza Jan and Dr AadilMohi-ud Din.
