KU organises week-long workshop on “MOOCs, e-content development and open educational resources”

A week-long workshop on MOOCs, e-content development and open educational resources was conducted by UGC-HRDC, University of Kashmir which concluded here on Monday, a KU spokesman said in a statement.

He said that 43 in-service faculty members belonging tovarious colleges and universities of the Jammu and Kashmir state attended theworkshop.

   

Chairing the valedictory session of the week-long workshopVice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir Prof. Talat Ahmad said, “Massive OpenOnline Course (MOOC) and e-content generation contribute significantly towardshoning creative thinking and innovative learning among the students and at thesame time help the faculty to update their knowledge and skills through suchfaculty development programmes.”

He urged faculty members of various colleges anduniversities to serve as agents of change and harness constructive ideals amongyoung learners.

In his valedictory address, Director, UGC-HRDC, Prof. ShabirAhmad Bhat elaborated upon the intended learning outcomes behind the workshopand emphasized that the main objective of the workshop was to sensitize theteaching faculty of colleges and universities about the advantages ofe-learning and to encourage them towards planning, designing, developing,delivering and implementing MOOCs so that they can keep pace with digitalrevolution of the twenty first century in which technology is blended withtraditional teaching-learning pedagogies for better learning outcomes.

Course Coordinator, Dr Salima Jan of EMMRC elaborated uponthe modalities behind design and conduct of the workshop and informed thegathering that renowned experts including Prof K. Srinivas from NIEPA, New Delhi and Dr Yogesh Velankar fromMaharashtra were invited to impart hands-on training to the participants indesigning and developing MOOCs over SWAYASM platform.Coordinator HRDC, Dr. Mohammad Ishaq Geerconducted the proceedings of the valedictory session and also proposed the voteof thanks.
