KU VC chairs NSS advisory committee meeting

Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir (KU), Prof Talat Ahmad chaired the Advisory Committee meeting of National Service Scheme (NSS) on Thursday.

Prof Talat appreciated the NSS for its active role inmobilizing volunteers for different social services at both University andCollege levels.

   

He said the aim and objective of the NSS initiative was tomake students understand their community and inculcate in them a sense ofresponsibility towards their society.

The meeting was attended by Registrar, KU Nisar Ahmad Mir,State NSS Officer/Director Colleges Prof Yaseen Ahmad Shah, Kamal Kispotta fromNSS Regional Center, New Delhi and Dean Students Welfare Prof Raies A Qadri.

Earlier the meeting started with a welcome address by ProfShamim Ahmad Shah, Coordinator NSS, followed by a brief presentation about theNSS activities in the University and at the College levels.

The agenda was deliberated and discussed thread bare. TheAdvisory Committee inter-alia approved the tentative calendar of activities tobe organized in the current academic year.

The committee also reviewed preparations for the GoldenJubilee Celebrations of NSS to be organized in September.

It was also resolved that an award be constituted for bestNSS volunteers, Programme Officers of NSS units associated with University ofKashmir.

The members complemented the NSS for MoU with Ministry ofYouth Affairs and Sports for establishment of Empanelled Training Institute(ETI).

The University Advisory Committee is the Apex body as far asthe NSS is concerned and has the mandate to review and asses the progress ofthe NSS and formulate plans and activities to be under taken during this year.
