KUMSA releases its revised constitution

Kashmir University Ministerial Staff Association (KUMSA) on Thursday released its revised constitution.

According to a statement, the revised constitution has been compiled in the form of a booklet by the KUMSA office-bearers led by its President QaziGhulamJeelani. According to KUMSA, the constitution has been amended to make it in tune with the present scenario where the university has been extending its reach to hitherto unreached areas and establishment of new satellite campuses.

KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad was present on occasion to appreciate and recognise the efforts of the university’s non-teaching members in attaining the NAAC A+ accreditation and 47th rank in the NIRF recently.

Prof Talat said the objective of both administration and employees is to see the institution making progress vis-à-vis academics, administration and research.

“We all have to work together to realise this objective. It is the duty of the administration to resolve all genuine issues raised by employees from time to time. I am glad to observe that even without the intervention of employees’ associations, we have been able to address their pending grievances in a time-bound manner,” he said.

“It is important to work together, without deviating from our set goals and objectives, to maintain our high rankings and status and strive hard to improve it further,” Prof Talat said. President KUMSA QaziGhulamJeelani said the association’s constitution has been amended in view of the need to align it with the present scenario.

He said KUMSA aims to promote unity among non-teaching employees while promoting and establishing understanding and good relations between employees and the administration. The function, apart from KUMSA office-bearers and members, was attended by several former KUMSA office-bearers.
