KU’s faulty results may cost students chance to apply for PG courses

The University of Kashmir, according to 5th and 6th semester students of various colleges, has declared results of their exams held in June and July which is filled with discrepancies and faults. The students fear the flawed results would result in them losing the opportunity to apply for post-graduation courses of the university.  

The examination department of the university recently declared the result of 5th and 6th semester degree college students wherein the results of hundreds of students has been shown later on (LO) or not available (NA) due to the mismanagement of the concerned authorities in the examination department of the varsity.

   

“I appeared in my combined 5tha and 6th Botany paper but the result uploaded by KU shows NA and LO against my name and have declared me as not qualified,” said a students from government degree college Bemina.

The students from various colleges have been declared as not qualified as the varsity declared the results haphazardly without collecting the attendance sheets of students and internal evaluation sheets of students from the concerned colleges.

“The KU has haphazardly declared students as not qualified which have left the students shocked because they have appeared in all papers including internal and external practical exams,” said Akhtar Ahmad a student from Anantnag.

The combined exam for 5th and 6th semester (3rd year) college students started in last week of June and culminated in July. Around 31,500 students from had appeared in the exams.

The flawed declaration of exam results has now delayed the admission process of students for PG courses in the varsity. “Despite completion of all formalities the PG admission process has been put on hold due to the discrepancies in 5th and 6th semester result,” an official said.

The PG entrance test of eligible students was held in the 3rd week of August and culminated in the first week of September. The passing out students of degree colleges were kept eligible to appear in PG entrance test on provisional basis as their result was not declared at the time of PG entrance exams.

Controller examination KU, Muhammad Yousuf Bhat said only 450 students out of 31500 had “some” discrepancy in the result which is being resolved by the concerned authorities.

“We have not received awards of internal practical exams of students and some students had other related issues. But it was not possible for us to withhold result of 31500 students for 450 students,” Bhat said. He said the students are aware about the discrepancies in their results and all issues will be resolved within two days.

“We are declaring revised result of all these students and the process will be completed within two days,” controller examination said.

Direction Admission KU, Prof Irshad Ahmad Nawcho said the PG admission process in varsity has got delayed due to errors in 5th and 6th semester results.

“We are hanged because of this issue otherwise we have completed all the formalities. The controller examination has sought one more week to fix the issues in the result. We have asked him to give in writing about how much time it will take to resolve the issue so that PG admission process is processed accordingly,” Prof Nawcho said. He said the students will be given time till the issue is resolved.
