The University of Kashmir’s Urdu Department on Thursday organised shaam e ghazal at Ibn e Khaldoon auditorium.
The event was held in the backdrop of a weeklong book fairwhich is being organised by National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language(NCPUL), in collaboration with the varsity.
The Kashmiri contemporary classical singer Kifayat Fahim whois alumni of the Urdu Department and a trained musician enthralled audiencewith his melodious voice.
Meanwhile a one-day seminar on “The future of Urdujournalism in Jammu and Kashmir” was also organised at the auditorium byNCPUL, where role of Urdu journalism in Kashmir was emphasized.
Eminent poets, broadcasters and journalists including BBCcorrespondent Riyaz Masroor and former Director Radio Kashmir, Srinagar SyedHumayun Qaisar participated in the seminar.
The program culminated with mehfil e afsana in which eminentUrdu writers read their short stories.
