Laiser residents protest thrashing of youth

Scores of inhabitants of Laiser area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir held a protest demonstration against the personnel of army’s 32 RR for allegedly beating a local youth.

Sources said two boys were travelling in a private car whenthe army men from 32 RR stopped them and allegedly thrashed one of them.

   

Soon after the incident, scores of people staged a protestdemonstration and blocked Handwara-Baramulla highway at Laiser.

The youth allegedly thrashed was identified as Tariq AhmedRather s/o Nazir Ahmed of Laiser. The boy was later taken to a local hospital.

SSP Sopore, Javeed Iqbal said: “The youth was thrashed bythe army men while he was trying to pass his car through a convoy.”

He said an FIR has been registered against the army men and”we have started investigation into the incident.”
