Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 7: Family members of a woman, who was to be operated upon for a cyst on the basis of a sonography performed in Lal Ded hospital, on Friday alleged that sonography report was wrong.
Family members of Jameela Begum of Batamloo told Greater Kashmir that she was referred to Lal Ded hospital on January 1 from SMHS, after she complained of shooting pain in the stomach. “She was admitted in the hospital under MRD No. 223826,” they added.
“Medicos after analyzing the sonography asserted that she had cyst on uterus and scheduled her surgery for Thursday,” said her husband, Muhammad Amin.
The Inpatient ticket which Amin was carrying mentioned that solid mass of 5 X 4.9 cm was present on the uterus.
“My wife had got a sonography done 6-months earlier and it showed no cyst on uterus. We got suspicious and we went to a private clinic and got another sonograghy done. Our apprehensions proved right as it showed no cyst,” he said, adding, “Had we not approached a private clinic, they would have operated her.”
When contacted, the Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Shafi said that they would order a probe if there was lapse on part of the medicos.“I would look into the matter and they (family) should approach me directly,” he added.
