LJP for exemplary punishment to culprit

Lok Janshakti Party national spokesperson Sanjay Saraf Wednesday strongly condemned the alleged rape incident in Bandipora and demanded exemplary punishment to the culprit.

Addressing media persons at Kashmir Press Club here, Sarafcalled for fast-track trial to provide justice to the victim and her family.

   

“This dastardly and shameful incident is a slur on the faceof humanity. Kashmir is the place known as Peervir (place of priests andsaints). This shameful incident has shocked the collective conscious ofpeople,” he said.

He said earlier reports of such incidents from other statesshocked the people in Kashmir. “This shameful incident in Kashmir isintolerable, unacceptable. It is also time for us to go for collectiveintrospection,” he said.

Saraf has appealed to the people of the Kashmir to maintaincalm and defeat every attempt aimed to give the incident a sectarian twist.

Saraf alleged that some outsiders and some local traders arebringing bad name to Kashmiri Muslims by selling the land belonging to temples.

“A piece of land belonging to Barbarshah temple was given onlease which ended in 2003. However, this piece of land was sold by a fewpersons for Rs 18.25 crore. This sale deed was executed despite status quogranted by the High Court on the land in question,” he said. He demanded “highlevel probe” in the matter.
