The Legal Metrology Department (LMD) on Saturday slapped a fine of Rs 2000 on a bakery firm found selling lesser weight butter cakes than the prescribed one, the officials said.
In a statement issued, the officials said that the Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has fixed the weight of butter-cake as 250 g for Rs 70 and the weight of Bakerkhanis as 50 g for Rs. 10. However, the alleged baking firm was found selling cakes with lesser weight than the prescribed one. He was penalized a sum of Rs 2000 for the short weighment.
In another case, a drug-store was penalized at Rs. 2000 for offering for sale face-masks without mandatory declaration of MRP.
