Lone, Yaseen, advisor Ganai, IGP Pani call on Governor

Former minister and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone, MLA Khansahib Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen, Governor’s advisor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai and inspector general of police-Kashmir—S P Pani called on Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday, an official spokesman said.

Former minister Sajad Gani Lone extended his felicitations to Malik on his appointment as Governor of J&K and briefed him about the ongoing schemes in his constituency and discussed certain impediments which were delaying the implementation of several important development schemes in his constituency.

   

The Governor  and Lone held threadbare discussion over the upcoming elections to the Municipalities and Panchayats and their crucial importance in empowering people to take decisions regarding development of their villages and towns, the spokesman said. 

The Governor, according to the spokesman, assured due consideration of the issues referred to by Lone and urged him to continue his endeavours for generating awareness among people about the importance of establishing grass root level democratic institutions for overall development of the state.

HAKEEM YASEEN 

MLA Khan sahib Hakim Muhammad Yaseen extended his felicitations  to Malik on his appointment as Governor of J&K and  informed him about the varied concerns and difficulties of people in his constituency and particularly referred to the poor maintenance of roads and issues relating to inadequacy of teachers in schools. 

He welcomed Governor’s decision to conduct the very long pending polls to the municipalities and Panchayats in the months of October-December this year. 

Yaseen asserted that the functioning of elected bodies in the villages and towns shall strengthen the democratic framework and, besides enable the urban and rural people to decide their developmental priorities and be also responsible for implementing development works and programmes which promote their welfare. 

The Governor urged the legislator to spread awareness about the high importance of the forthcoming elections to Municipalities and Panchayats and hoped that many educated young men would come forward to contest the polls.

ADVISOR KHURSHID  GANAI 

 Governor’s advisor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai informed the Governor Malik  about the to date status of various important developmental schemes relating to the Departments under his charge. He also drew attention to certain important administrative issues which call for early decisions in the State Administrative Council.

The Governor discussed with Ganai about the preparedness of administrative machinery for the conduct of polls to urban local bodies and  Panchayats and certain issues relating to the entire arena of school, college and university education and possible initiatives to be taken for regaining the trust of youth.

IGP KASHMIR 

IGP Kashmir S P Pani briefed the Governor Malik about the internal security situation in the Valley.

Advising close surveillance on all fronts the Governor asked the IGP Pani  to ensure that his force plays a prompt and pro-active role in solving the problems faced by the people at large.

IG BSF 

Sonali Mishra, Inspector General BSF also called  Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan here and briefed him about the obtaining security situation in her area of responsibility.

IG Mishra briefed the Governor about role and responsibilities of BSF during the annual Amarnath Yatra.

The Governor lauded the role being played by the BSF every year for the smooth conduct of annual pilgrimage and advised the IG to ensure enhanced surveillance along the borders and stringent enforcement of counter-infiltration grid throughout the ensuing winter period, side by side, maintaining the welfare of personnel who are engaged in discharging difficult duties.
